Love it or hate it, finance is something you can’t avoid if you run a small business. I realize it may be tempting to hand it off to someone else, even someone outside your company. Especially if you are the business. You may wonder, who has time? Don’t the experts say to outsource things that aren’t your strength?
Yes I’ve heard all that before. Just answer one question honestly.
Do you want to let someone else decide how much, or how little you make in a day, week, month or year?

Finance Made… Fun?
Business men and women often view financial analysis as a necessary evil, and that’s on a good day. Fear not!
Although we have a secret passion for pocket protectors and the number pi, we have banned any discussion of them here.
Instead you will often see our mascot, Fluffy the Finance Feline, popping up. His faithful sidekick, Max the Math Mutt, is around too. You might even catch sight of Moolah the Cash Cow, drawn by Tori Deaux of the Circus Serene.
Villains? Yes we have them too. There’s Number Cruncher, and for the really scary stuff we have the Serial Profits Killer. It’s almost as exciting as the next ________.
I’m not suggesting you have to become a finance guru.
I love numbers, spreadsheets and their ilk, yet I still pay a CPA to do my taxes. Wait, you just said – I know, I know. The difference is that I prepare everything for the CPA, and then walk through all the changes made, including the calculations for deductibles, depreciation and so on.
I may not know every rule, however I understand what is being done, why and how it impacts the money I have to pay to ,or will get back from, the government. I realize I am not a tax expert, and to have the job done the best, I need an expert to do it.
